Me
My quest to take architecture seriously & consider it a potential career began in High School when I selected technical drawing as an elective subject. I also selected Art as I have always been a fan of both. Upon finishing my HSC in 1998 I secured an apprenticeship with a building design firm in Castle Hill in January 99’ & began & completed (part time) the Certificate IV in architectural drafting. My duties where to assist in a wide range of projects at various stages and it was here that I learnt to draft manually & with CAD software on conceptual plans, DA, CC & tender documentation I later completed the architectural drafting diploma in 02’ part time also whilst working full time.
During this period I moved to Penrith & begun work as a CAD technician for a surveying firm, which involved a basic understanding of surveying fieldwork, & comprised mainly of hand drafting with limited CAD drawing. I was approached by a friend from TAFE who was working for an Architect in Edgecliff who had a position, I decided that since I was going to apply for acceptance into UTS in 04’ that experience under an Architect would give me further exposure and knowledge as well as accumulating time to eventually fill out AACA’s registration booklet.
In early 03’ I began employment with CSA Architects, & in 04’ began my Bachelor of Arts part time at UTS ultimo campus. In my time at CSA I co-managed small to intermediate jobs with the director and was in charge of trade literature. I attended client and council meetings assisted and un assisted & saw most jobs through from concept to completion. In late 06’ CSA relocated its office from Edgecliff to Bondi Junction and I moved out West once again.
In 07’ I began working for the Liverpool based architects Mosca Pserras Partnership & completed my final year of the Bachelor of Arts degree, I began the masters in Architecture in 08.’ My time at MPA saw me involved with large scale residential towers, industrial, commercial & mixed use retail developments. In mid 08’ I was approached by a uni colleague who informed me of a position with a small centrally located firm within Ultimo. I began working with JDH Architects in late 08’ and commenced my final year of the Masters course in 09.’ My duties at JDH involved work on childcare centres, seniors living, high end residential, alterations and additions for catholic, private & public schools. In mid 09’ with the GFC looming closer I decided to take the opportunity to dedicate my last main masters semester to full time study, and that is where im currently at …….. stay tuned.
